The Historic Legacy of The Fox Event Center in Redlands, California

Step into timeless elegance at The Fox Event Center, a historic venue located in the heart of downtown Redlands, CA. Originally built in the early 20th century, our venue has stood as a pillar of community, culture, and celebration for over 100 years.

The Fox Through the Years

The Redlands Fox Theatre was built in 1927 and officially opened on December 28, 1928, with Hollywood celebrities in attendance. The opening featured Habeas Corpus starring Laurel & Hardy, Naughty Baby with Alice White and Jack Mulhall, and live Vaudeville acts. Initially a silent movie house with a Wurlitzer organ, the Fox soon embraced “talkies” and underwent several changes — the most significant being its conversion into a multi-plex in the 1940s, which marked the end of its original grand theatre design.

For over 30 years, the theatre sat closed to the public. Now, fully restored, it has reopened to the delight of Redlanders who fondly remember youthful nights in the balcony. Designed in Spanish Colonial Revival style, the Fox maintains its original charm, with beautifully restored lobbies and a transformed downstairs area. The former seating has been replaced with a spacious ballroom featuring crystal chandeliers, red velvet drapes, and state-of-the-art sound — accommodating 400 guests seated or 700 standing.

Today, the venue hosts weddings, proms, parties, film festivals, fundraisers, and more. We invite you to visit the Historic Fox Theatre at 123 Cajon Street, take a walk through its storied past, and celebrate new memories in a timeless setting.

A Vintage Venue with a Vibrant Past

Once a cornerstone of entertainment in Redlands’ historic downtown district, The Fox began as a classic theater — showcasing silent films, vaudeville acts, and Hollywood premiers. Over the decades, it evolved with the city, hosting generations of residents for everything from movie nights to milestone moments.

Today, we’ve preserved the spirit of that golden era — from the ornate architecture and vintage crown molding to the original theater marquee — while modernizing the space for today’s most important occasions.

Preserving the Beauty of Redlands’ Historic Downtown
